GT-50 copper connector is a straight connecting tube used to join two copper conductor ends with a suitable nominal cross-sectional area of 50mm². Its through-type design allows the conductors to be inserted from both ends before crimping.

How to select the correct GT-50 copper connector
Check the nominal cable cross-sectional area
The GT-50 is specified for a suitable cable cross-sectional area of 50mm². Do not select the connector based only on the outside diameter of the cable insulation. A nominal conductor size of 50mm² is also not the same as an actual conductor diameter of 50mm.
Check the actual conductor dimensions
The connecting tube has an inner diameter of 10mm. Before installation, check that the stripped copper conductor can be inserted correctly without excessive force or abnormal clearance.
Distinguish GT from GTY connectors
The GT-50 shown in the supplied document is a through-type copper connecting tube. It should be distinguished from the GTY straight connector for 50mm² cable, as the two connector types do not have identical construction or application requirements.
Select the correct crimping tool and die
Use a crimping tool and die that are compatible with the connector type, cable size and applicable installation instructions. Do not determine the crimping force, number of crimps or crimping positions without suitable technical documentation.
Basic installation procedure
- Disconnect and isolate the power supply, then verify that the work area is electrically safe.
- Confirm the GT-1-50 model and a suitable 50mm² copper conductor.
- Clean the conductor surfaces and remove dirt, oil or other contaminants from the contact area.
- Insert the two conductor ends into the tube from opposite sides and align them according to the installation requirements.
- Crimp the connector using a compatible crimping tool and die.
- Inspect the mechanical security, connector deformation and conductor position after crimping.
- Apply suitable insulation and mechanical protection to the completed joint according to the cable system design.
The stripping length, crimping force and number of crimping points must be determined according to the conductor construction, connector, tool, die and applicable installation instructions. A single fixed value should not be applied to every installation.
Technical and safety notes
- Use the connector for copper conductors only. Do not use this copper connecting tube to directly join an aluminium conductor.
- Do not use the GT-50 as a substitute for a cable lug with a bolt hole.
- Do not crimp the connector with an incorrect die size or an incompatible tool.
- Do not insert heavily oxidised, contaminated or damaged conductors into the connector.
- Apply suitable insulation and protection after completing the crimped joint.
- Installation should be carried out by qualified personnel after the electrical system has been safely isolated.
